Matthew Stafford’s wife reflects on husband’s retirement after Rams fall to Eagles: ‘I guess we’ll find out’
Kelly Stafford, wife of Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, reflected post on Instagram after her husband’s team lost to the Philadelphia Eagles in the Divisional Round on Sunday night.
And with her husband coming off his 16th NFL season, the thought of retirement naturally came into the headlines.
Kelly doesn’t hold out hope that Matthew will retire from the game he loves as she said she “could never get tired” of watching him perform every week during the season.

“There are not enough words to express how proud I am,” Kelly captioned her post, which included pictures of her husband and family. “I joke that we’re old and tired, but I honestly would never get tired of seeing you out there or watching our little girls cheer for their daddy.”
However, Kelly left some thoughts for Rams fans, as it appears her husband may be considering hanging up his football boots.
“I wonder if this is the end or not… I guess we’ll find out,” she wrote.

Soon-to-be 37-year-old Matthew Stafford said after the 28-22 loss to the Eagles that he’s “going to take some time to think about it” regarding his career.
“I feel like I played pretty good ball,” he said, via New York Post.
Stafford’s fourth year with the Rams ended with a playoff performance in which a potential game-winning drive ended with a fourth-and-long incompletion to his favorite target, second-year receiver Puk Nacu, on a downed ball to the boundary. .
Stafford completed 26 of 44 passes for 324 yards with two touchdowns in snowy conditions at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia and was sacked five times by the Eagles’ defense, including a critical 3rd-and-2 sack of Jalen Carter in the red zone before that final incompletion .
But as Stafford mentioned, he can still throw for 3,762 yards with 20 touchdowns and eight interceptions on a 65.8% completion rate through 16 games this season. He went 10-6 in those contests to give the Rams the NFC West title and another playoff berth with him at the helm.
Stafford was the first pick of the 2009 NFL Draft Detroit Lionsand while he was desperate to win a Super Bowl for the Motor City, he found that Vince Lombardi trophy in his first season with the Rams in 2021.
He was famously traded to the Rams from the Lions, who received Jared Goff in January 2021, which changed both franchises. While the Lions got their new franchise quarterback to build around, the Rams used veteran Stafford and weapons of their own to make a Super Bowl run that ended with them hoisting the trophy in their own SoFi Stadium over the Cincinnati Bengals.

Stafford is currently under contract for the next two seasons, and head coach Sean McVay and the rest of the organization certainly want him to see it through.
