Nancy Pelosi sells shares of Apple, Nvidia; Alphabet buys, Amazon calls, Investing.com filings
Investing.com– Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi made large trades in several major tech stocks, including Apple, Nvidia, Amazon and Alphabet, between mid-December and mid-January, a filing showed on Monday.
Pelosi, who currently represents California’s 11th congressional district, sold 31,600 shares of Apple Inc (NASDAQ: ) common stock for between $5 million and $25 million on the last day of trading in 2024, her largest trade in the past month, period Transaction (JO:) Report displayed.
It also bought 50 call options with a strike price of $150 and an expiration date of January 16, 2026, on shares of Alphabet Inc Class A (NASDAQ: ) and Amazon.com Inc (NASDAQ: ). Both purchases were valued between $250,001 and $500,000 and took place on January 14, 2025.
Pelosi sold 10,000 shares of NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ: ) common stock for $1 million to $5 million. It also exercised 500 call options on Nvidia worth between $500,001 and $1 million and bought 50 call options on the chip maker with a strike price of $80 and an expiration date of January 16, 2026.
Among other transactions, Pelosi executed 140 call options on Palo Alto Networks Inc (NASDAQ: ) valued at $1 million to $5 million, and bought 50 call options on Tempus AI Inc (NASDAQ:).
Pelosi also bought 50 call options in the Vistra Energy Corp (NYSE:).
Pelosi and her husband, Paul Pelosi, have been heavily active in the stock markets, and critics argue that her status as a lawmaker gives her an advantage.
The 2012 law makes it illegal for lawmakers to use their knowledge of Congress for personal gain and requires them or family members to disclose stock transactions within 45 days.
Data from analytics firm Unusual Whales, which tracks congressional trade activity, shows Pelosi’s portfolio jumped 70.9% in 2024, well outpacing 25% growth in 2024.
But Pelosi was far from the most successful trade member of Congress. Rep. David Rouzer, from North Carolina’s 7th District, saw his portfolio jump 140% last year.
