The main coach of Warrington Sam Burgess remains convinced that next weekend will be part of their historic Betfred Super League in Las Vegas, although he is currently unable to travel to the United States.
Former England International has not yet received a visa to enter the US for their showdown with the Wigan Warriors at the Allegiant Stadium, part of the four -time live match in Las Vegas on March 1 Live on Sky Sports.
Burgess revealed earlier this week that his application had been held and that there was no indication when it could be approved, with it still unclear – from Saturday morning – whether he would be able to fly with his teams on Sunday as scheduled.
This week spent two days in London this week, attending meetings at the US Embassy, returning on time only for Wolves ’18 -12 Win over Catalan Dragons Friday night, and his application is still in review.
“I’m not sure about a minute,” Burgess told reporters after Wolves’ victory, when he expected the problem to be resolved. “It was a bit of a process in the last few days.
“The visa application is in the review. This happens a bit. I respect the procedure and everyone’s effort to bring it to this point, but it is currently basically beyond my control. We will see what the next 24 will see the next 24 hours.
“I think I’m going to get there, that’s a lot of work to do. The fingers crossed. If I don’t get on the plane on Sunday, I hope I won’t be too far behind the team.”
Asked if he knew what was the reason for the delay, he said, “I know, but I don’t really want to talk about it.”
Burgess: “I’ll come to Vegas!”
Burgess, who had a glittering playing career with South Sydney, was one of the faces of promotion for an event in Las Vegas, who also contains two games from the Australian NRL of Women’s International.
“It will be a really pleasant week for all,” Burgess Sky Sports said. “I want them to absorb them, they get something out of experience and keep the performance there next Saturday.”
How convinced he did in Las Vegas that he was scheduled, Burgess added: “I thanked everyone at the US Embassy in London, who have invested a lot of work in the last few days.
“I respect the procedure. It’s just down on them and a little time. I’m optimistic. I’ll get to Vegas, I’ll get there … it’s only when, that’s all! See you in Vegas.”
