Chelsea have joined Manchester City in making inquiries about the availability of Juventus midfielder Douglas Luiz, it has been revealed.

Meanwhile, Juventus are working on their new signings and director Cristiano Giuntoli was recently in London for talks with Chelsea over the Portuguese representative Renato Veiga and, according to La Gazzetta dello Sportduring this meeting the Blues announced their interest in Luiz.

Chelsea are exploring their options in midfield after Enzo Fernandez and Romeo Lavia were both snapped up injurieswith the latter potentially facing an extended spell on the sidelinesand a potential loan of Luiz was suggested.

The Telegraph add Chelsea’s inquiry was accepted by Juventus, but demands from the Serie A side to commit to a permanent transfer at the end of the season scuppered a potential deal.

Negotiations about Vega’s future continue, but Gianluca Di Marzio claim the 21-year-old’s demands are currently too high for Juventus, who have quoted a fee of around £5m just to take Veiga on loan.

Chelsea want close to £20m to part ways with Veiga permanently and Lazio are also considering a deal as part of their bid to sign Cesare Casadei this month.
