Carragher is ‘disappointed’ by Alexander-Arnold as he approaches the edges of Real Madrid and suggests that the exit of Liverpool is enhanced by his ‘brand’

Jamie Carragher says he is “disappointed” that Trent Alexander-Arnold wants to leave Liverpool, suggesting that his reported move to Real Madrid intensified his “brand”.

The reports appeared this week that the right back Reds wanted to join Real when his contract expired this summer, and some even suggested that Anfield Hero had already agreed on a five-year transition agreement in Bernabeu.

The news did not agree well with the fans, who criticized the defender of the born Liverpool for the desire to leave the club, as well as the way of its exit, which would be set to see him as the club leave for free.

Carragher is ‘disappointed’ in the Trent

And now Pundit and former player Carragher, who has spent his entire career at Anfield, abolished the situation, and the 47-year-old said he was disappointed that Alexander-Arnold felt he had to look somewhere else to compete for the biggest prizes.

He said on Hold on to a football podcast: “Where I am if I am a local player and fan of Liverpool, Liverpool is in a position where they compete for the league and the European Cup every year.

“So if you are Liverpool fan and a local player, I’m just disappointed that he doesn’t think that’s it.

“I’m putting myself in his position where I would think we could go with Manchester United in league trophies, in Liverpool for another seven or eight years and I want to get three or four in front of them, with a few more European Cups.”

Carragher: The real move to reinforce the Trent brand

Alexander-Arnold played a key role because the Liverpool look was supposed to win the Premier League under Arne this season, but spoke about his desire to win the Ballon D’Or in the past.

And Carragher believes that the 26-year-old wants to move to Spanish giants to build his personal following.

“I think a trent is a player who looks at himself almost as a brand, and that’s not just him, many players do it now,” he explained.

“I return to the interview he gave to Sky Sports before Christmas, where he was assigned five options to which he would choose as the most important for you – Captain Liverpool, won the Champions League with Liverpool, won the World Cup with England or won the Ballon D’Or – II he chose Ballon d’Or.

“He wanted to be the first full back to win in the D’Or Balloon, and there is nothing bad in ambition, but that didn’t happen particularly well with Liverpool’s supporters.”

Carragher: The reaction was ‘toxic’

Carragher said he understood the negative reaction to the news that Alexander-Arnold wanted to leave, but insists that the movements are such a part and a plot of the game.

“It seems like there is no one that people are dissatisfied with – he leaves himself freely or that he should have come out and he said to the club earlier – people are angry for three or four different things,” Carragher added.

“I’m not angry because he went to free. In the ideal world, Liverpool would get £ 70m or £ 80m to invest it again, but you can’t have it in both directions.

“If Liverpool sign someone on free in the summer, we would all be delighted, so that means his former club should absolutely hate him?

“Also, when you are a local player, you don’t cost anything – Trent goes for free like Virgil Van Dijk, which goes to £ 75m, we would still break down.”
