Chelsea are closing in on signing the “physically imposing” 6ft 4 teenager for £17million


Chelsea are believed to have reached an agreement to sign the “physically imposing” player, according to a major update from reporter Fabrice Hawkins.

The Blues are constantly linked with new players during the January transfer window, such as Todd Boehly and Enzo Maresca watch for further additions at Stamford Bridge. Sporting CP central defender Ousmane Diomande has emerged as a reported target, should the citizens of west London feel the need to bring reinforcements to the heart of their defences.

Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho he has also been backed to come on and give Chelsea an even greater goal threat in the final third, having fallen out of favor with Ruben Amorim since replacing Erik ten Hag earlier this season. Meanwhile, young Borussia Dortmund Jamie Bynoe-Gittens he has been linked with Chelsea and almost every other top English club, with the 20-year-old he scored seven goals and recorded three assists in the Bundesliga so far this season.

According to Hawkins on X, Chelsea have reached an agreement with Strasbourg defender Mamadou Sarra signed him in the current window in a deal worth £17m and the 19-year-old will remain on loan at his current club until the end of the season.

Sarr would be considered a long-term option for the Blues from this summer onwards, as he comes in as a player with huge potential. At only 19 years old, he already is made 13 appearances for Strasbourg, while he is an analyst/writer Connor Holden praised the “physically imposing” edge he possesses in his game.

Sarr was against France 32 times in four different age groups of youth teams, underscoring his promise as a young player, and will hope to eventually make the leap to the senior set-up.

For Chelsea, it will increase competition for places in defense under Maresco next season, with the likes of Levi Colwill and Wesley Fofana hopefully finding another level by threatening to lose their place to him.
