The GTA 6 mapping project has been going on for over two years, and fans have discovered many things from the upcoming game. The project started after the first Grand Theft Auto 6 was leaked in September 2022, and is currently at version 0.047.
Although Rockstar Games has yet to render a full map from the upcoming game, the GTA 6 mapping project gives a rough idea of the open world. This article lists five big details that can be gleaned from the fan-made map so far.

Five intriguing details from the GTA 6 v0.047 mapping project
1) Other areas from the state of Leonidas
While the first Trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6 showed us some areas in Vice City and unnamed locations in Leonidas, the GTA 6 mapping project has good news for fans. The project has mapped various other locations based on the September 2022 leak and trailer.
While Vice City will be the main attraction of the upcoming map, the mapping project also revealed the following areas:
- Farm
- Alligator Keys
- Alligator Creek
- Port of Gellhorn
- Lake Leonidas
- Redhill
- Hank Hill
- Ambrosia
- Sea view
- SHIT
- Yorktown
- Czech Republic
It is worth noting that there are many other smaller areas nearby.
2) New details about the port of Gellhorn
Port Gellhorn is believed to be one of the main locations in Grand Theft Auto 6. While Rockstar Games has yet to officially reveal the area, the GTA 6 mapping project has provided a rough look.
Gellhorn Harbor was initially believed to be a plain towards the northwest corner of the map. However, GTA 6 mapping project v0.047 showed it to have a partially enclosed body of water with various important facilities nearby.
The project also stated that the above scene (image) from the first trailer took place in Port Gellhorn.
3) Locations from leaked clips
The GTA 6 leaks from September 2022 included 90 unfinished gameplay clips that gave us very early glimpses of the upcoming game. Although the leak did not include a map, the GTA 6 mapping project was able to pinpoint locations from the leaked clips.
It’s also worth noting that the leaked clips were the first source for the development of the upcoming open world.
4) Locations from the first trailer
Immediately after the release of the first official trailer, the GTA 6 mapping project managed to mark the locations where certain scenes from the video took place. The team was also able to determine where the above scene (image) occurred on the map.
Rockstar Games includes several scenes from Vice City and several scenes from Port Gellhorn, Flamingo Beach, Gator Keys and other locations. However, we will have to wait Grand Theft Auto 6 edition sure to know.
5) North side of the map
The north side of the Grand Theft Auto 6 map is still a mystery to fans. According to the GTA 6 mapping project, the Port Gellhorn scene is the northernmost location Rockstar used in the first trailer.
However, over time the mapping project was able to predict the rough appearance of the northern side of the map. According to him, the north side has the following positions:
- SHIT
- Saint Joseph
- Sea view
- Yorktown
- Czech Republic
