Sourav Ganguly named the best white ball player of all time
Former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly has heaped praise on one of India’s current cricketing icons, referring to him as the greatest white-ball player the world has ever seen. Ganguly’s comments come despite the player’s recent dip in form, including struggles in recent matches.
Sourav Ganguly highlights the outstanding achievements of the Indian cricket star
Ganguly praised Virat Kohli as a once-in-a-lifetime cricketer, comparable to former Indian cricketers Jhulan Goswami and Mithali Raj. He praised Kohli’s incredible achievement of scoring 80 international centuries and called him the greatest white ball player ever. However, the former Indian captain expressed surprise at Kohli’s dip in form after his century in the first Test Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 against Australia in Perth, pointing out that despite the struggles in India, he expected a strong series in Australia, which unfortunately did not materialize.
“Virat Kohli is a once-in-a-lifetime cricketer, like Jhulan, like Mithali. To score 80 hundreds in international cricket is incredible. For me he is the greatest white ball player the world has seen. But I was very surprised with the way he batted in Australia after the hundred in Perth. He struggled here in India before that but I thought after the hundred in Perth it would be a big series for him,Ganguly said in an interview with Revsportz in Kolkata.

Ganguly shares his optimism for the player’s future
Despite these challenges, Ganguly expressed Kohli’s ability to overcome challenges, highlighting his resilience and adaptability. The Kolkata lad acknowledged that every player has strengths and weaknesses, but stressed the importance of adapting to weaknesses over time. Ganguly believes Kohli has a lot of cricket left in him.
“But it happens. I think every player has their own weaknesses and strengths but what matters is how you adapt to your weaknesses while playing excellent cricket over a period of time. I still feel there is a lot of cricket left in Virat Kohli,“, he added.
