British and Irish lions: Andy Farrell confirms meetings in the back, including former Wallaby David Nucifora | News of rugby


British and Irish lion coach Andy Farrell has confirmed the meetings of three of his Backro for a summer tour until confronted with Australia, with former Wallaby David Nucifor among them.

Nucifora joins the setting as a general director, working in a similar position with IRFA in Ireland in the decade between 2014 and 2024, and then took a comparable position with Scotland last summer.

Welshman Aled Walters was appointed chief of athletic appearance from IRFA, previously worked with South Africa and English.

Irishman Vinny Hammond also joins the Irfu as chief of analysis after previously visiting the Lions 2017 and 2021 analyst.

“In David, Aled and Vinny, we have the three of the absolutely best who joined us for a tour in Australia this summer, culminating in a long -awaited test series against Wallabies,” Farrell said.

“David’s unbeatable experience will help us shape and provide such a challenging and exciting rugby program, while at the same time will bring the basic insight into the Australian rugby and the country as a whole.

“Aled is the winner of the World Cup who collaborated with players across England and Ireland, and also trained in Australia and Super Rugby with Brumbies.

“And Vinny’s lions of the generator from the tour of New Zealand and South Africa brings the experience of continuity and lions, which will be crucial for success.”

Former Wallaby Hooker and Brumbies Nucifora coach joins the advisory basis and will be on the team during the tour.

Nucifora said, “Looking at the lions of Tour Australia over the years and then playing against them for Queensland XV 1989, I never expected to be part of their team one day – but it’s funny how sports work.

“I look forward to being based on my experiences with Irish and Scotland in support of Andy as he goes to build a truly world class and teams.”

Walters said, “Lions are an absolute peak and my earliest memory of them watched Tour in 1989. Australia as an eight -year -old and celebrated the attempt by Ieuan Evans in the third test.

“The truth is that there is no greater honor than choosing for the Lion Tour and I can’t wait to work with the best players and coaches as we take over Wallabies and Tour Australia.”

Hammond added: “Lions have an incredibly special place in my heart, after visiting New Zealand in 2017 and then South Africa 2021.

“Being part of the lions is the ultimate honor and it was a real privilege of Andy to lead a team for analysis for 2025. Our focus is now on everything we can win the test series.”

Lions director Ben Calveley added: “I am a pleasure to welcome David, Aleda and Vinny in the lions.

“The excitement for this year’s tour in Australia really begins to build both hemispheres, and while Andy shapes his team team that will only intensify.

“These roles would also not be possible without the support of our colleagues in Scottish rugby and IRFU who helped make these meetings easier.”

Lions confirmed that Farrell would complete the rest of their rear room team after six nations 2025.
