BCCI confirms Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 host dates and venues
The countdown to cricket’s biggest extravaganza has officially begun! The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has discovered that it is Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 the season will begin in March, promising another exciting chapter in the league’s illustrious history.
Eden Gardens will host the opening and finals of the tournament
Namely, BCCI has officially announced that the upcoming IPL season will start on March 23 and the final is scheduled for May 25. Rajeev ShuklaBCCI Vice President, made the announcement during a press conference after the special general meeting held in Mumbai.
Eden Gardens, the legendary home ground Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR)was chosen to host the opening and finals of the tournament. This is in line with the tradition of the defending champions playing key matches at home. KKR have won the IPL 2024 title, securing their home turf the honor for the upcoming season.

Mega Auction and schedule updates
Ahead of the mega auction in November, the IPL Governing Council has taken a revolutionary step by sharing the tournament windows for the next three seasons (2025-2027) with all the franchises. The 2025 season has been allocated a window from March 15 to May 25.
In order to accommodate the international schedule, esp ICC Champions Trophy final scheduled for March 9, the IPL ensured a two-week break before the start of the league. The final start date of March 23 allows teams and players plenty of time to prepare after the global tournament.
The detailed schedule of IPL 2025 is expected to be announced later this month, offering clarity on the venues and timings of the matches.
74 games on the cards
The 2025 IPL season will feature 74 matches, maintaining consistency with the format followed in the last three editions. Fans can expect the same level of excitement and competitive cricket that has become synonymous with the league.
