Aston Villa are in talks with the £25million PSG player who is now willing to complete the move
Potentially welcomes more star power, Aston Villa have reportedly opened negotiations with the Paris Saint-Germain player who is desperate to rediscover his best form.
Aston Villa transfer news
The Villans are currently ninth in the league Premier League while preparing for the beginning of the new year under Unai Emery and one that will once again hope to finish in the Champions League. However, given their current struggle for consistency, they may have to return to the transfer market if they are to return to Europe’s biggest stage for a second consecutive season.
It is on that plan Donyell Malen who threatened to steal the headlines more than others. Reports have even gone as far as to suggest that Aston Villa have already submitted an offer to Borussia Dortmund with negotiations ongoing and the German giants ready to show their winger the door in 2025.
Attacking reinforcements appear to have become the priority at Villa Park this month in a bid to share the goals rather than relying on Ollie Watkins and Jhon Duran to seal the points. And this means that Malen is not the only one who apparently caught the eye of the Villans.
According to Caught Offside, Aston Villa are now in talks with Marco Asensio over a January move away from Paris Saint-Germain. The former Real Madrid star has struggled for playing time in the current campaign and is now willing to complete a move away from the Ligue 1 giants this month.

While Aston Villa would prefer a loan move, PSG are reportedly looking for between €25m-€30m (£21m-£25m) to part ways with their midfield midfielder.
With the likes of Morgan Rogers, Ross Barkley and the returning Emiliano Buendia already providing enough depth in Asensio’s role, it remains to be seen whether they will be willing to splash the cash to secure the Spaniard’s signature.
“Big” Asensio needs a January move
At risk of becoming a forgotten star after becoming a star at Real Madrid and earning a move to PSG, Asensio should be desperate to steal the headlines again and complete a January move to Aston Villa. Only rare cases have struggled to impress Emery and only a few have failed to make an impressive impact at Villa Park. Now Asensio could become the next to benefit.
Despite his current struggles under Luis Enrique, the right-back once found himself at the center of the manager’s plaudits during his time in charge of the Spanish national team.
Enrique he told reporters, via Madrid Universal, in 2022: “We worked with him on the things we wanted him to improve and he did exactly that. When he plays as a ‘9’, he initiates the pressure and that requires effort and a lot of responsibility.
“It is a pleasure to see how our six forwards press, they give us guarantees. Marco is a guarantee and is in great shape for the World Cup.”
Having endured three Ligue 1 starts under the Spaniard at PSG just three years later, Asensio is no longer a player at the center of Enrique’s thoughts and must move on in 2025.
