Arne Slot gives his verdict on the relationship between Liverpool and Khvich Kvaratskhelia
Liverpool manager Arne Slot has dismissed links between his team and Napoli winger Khvich Kvaratskhelia.
Napoli is open to offers for the Georgia winger, who is seriously interested in Paris Saint-Germain and is he is reportedly the subject of a swap bid involving Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford.
The surprise of Kvaratskhelia’s availability led to new claims about it interest from Liverpool and Chelsea. While neither are thought to be actively chasing the winger, the opportunity to land a long-term target should be considered.
Slott, however, suggested there was very little to the story.
“What I mean about it is that it’s January,” Slott said when asked about Kvaratskhelia.
“I think after the West Ham game I said don’t let me down, please come with all these clubs and all these players we have an interest in or those who don’t play much to go somewhere else. That’s what’s happening now.
“Nine times out of ten, 99 times out of 100, at the end of the window it’s clear that almost all of those stories weren’t true. So what do I have to comment on that? Rumors, go ahead, but no comments from us.”
Napoli are thought to be interested LiverpoolFederico Chiesa as a potential replacement for Kvaratskhelia. Speculative reports on the situation claim the Italian could be offered as part of a swap deal, with Darwin Nunez even touted as a potential back-up.
