Aaron Rodgers’ future with Jets will depend on new head coach, GM reports

Aaron Rodgers played one of the two seasons he was with the Jets. The freshman season ended as quickly as it began for the quarterback as he ruptured his Achilles four games into the year. The 2024 season did not go as the team had planned, as Robert Saleh and Joe Douglas were both fired during the year. New York finished 5-12.

Whether Rodgers will return as the Jets’ quarterback is still questionable.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport he said in the video on Sunday that Rodgers was adamant that whether he returns to the Jets depends on new leadership.

“Aaron Rodgers has been very clear that the decision on whether to come back will be up to the new head coach and the new general manager. Aaron Glenn, I understand, is open to it, and so is Rodgers. Expect those talks to intensify next week Rapoport said.

The 10-time Pro Bowler had 3,897 passing yards and 28 touchdown passes while playing every game for the Jets.

If Rodgers does return, New York could face a conundrum at wide receiver.

Davante Adams he teased about playing elsewhere in 2025 and Garrett Wilson has suggested he wants to be traded from New York.

So while two key organizational pieces are in place, there’s still a lot to determine how the roster will look in week one.
