Cricket Australia revealed his 15-man squad for ICC Champions Trophy 2025tournament that will be held in a hybrid mode that will be co-hosted Pakistan and United Arab Emirates from February 19 to March 9. While the squad includes a mix of seasoned batsmen and promising new faces, several notable names from the ODI World Cup 2023 winning squad have been left out.
Australia’s triumph at the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023 was historic, marking their sixth title and cementing their position as cricket’s giants. However, some key players from that championship-winning team were not included in the Champions Trophy line-up.

2. Cameron Green
Cameron Greena promising 25-year-old all-round batsman, he played three matches during the 2023 World Cup, scoring 63 runs with a top score of 47. However, his bowling form was unsatisfactory as he failed to take a single wicket. A stress fracture in his lower back further prevented his participation, and his last ODI match was against England in September 2024 Green’s absence from the Champions Trophy squad is a blow, but his injury status made his exclusion inevitable.
3. David Warner
David Warnerone of the standout players in the 2023 World Cup, he is also absent from the squad for the Champions Trophy in 2025. However, his exclusion comes on his own terms, having retired from ODI cricket following Australia’s triumphant World Cup final against India. Warner was instrumental in Australia’s success, amassing 535 runs in 11 matches, including two centuries. His retirement marks the end of an illustrious ODI career, leaving behind a legacy that will be remembered for generations.
