Man Utd’s top target interested in a January transfer following the Red Devils’ approach
Paris Saint-Germain left-back Nuno Mendes reportedly wants to leave the Ligue 1 giants after talks over a contract extension broke down, with Manchester United firmly in the race for his signature.
Shortly after arriving at United, head coach Ruben Amorim made it clear to those in charge that the new left back was his highest transmission priorityand there were about that time reports of interest in a deal for Mendes appeared first.
Mendes, 22, rose to fame under Amorim at Sporting CP between 2020 and 2022, and RMC Sport claim that an offer has already been made for the pair to reunite at Old Trafford.
PSG are hoping to keep hold of Mendes and have discussed a contract extension, but Mendes believes the French side are not offering him the wages he deserves as a key starter and frustration has grown to the point that the Portugal international wants to leave the club.
He is “not indifferent” to United’s approach, even though it is January transfer it could be complicated and PSG have not yet given up hope of convincing Mendes to extend his stay in Paris beyond his current contract, which is due to expire in 2026.
United have struggled at left-back for several seasons due to significant injuries to Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia, and it looks like both players could be heading for the exit door as Amorim wants significant signings.
Reports have also named RB Leipzig’s David Raum as a possible target, while 17-year-old Cerro Porteno left-back Diego Leon has already agreed a move to Old Trafford in the summer of 2025.
