A new study has revealed which cities in America are the best places to ring in the New Year, and some places might surprise you.
WalletHub released its list of the most fun and affordable cities in the US after conducting research across all 50 states in the categories of entertainment and food, cost, safety and affordability.
WalletHub analyst Chip Lupo said in a press release, “Celebrating New Year’s Eve in the right city can turn the holiday into a truly magical experience.”

“The best cities to celebrate the New Year have clear skies and some of the best fireworks,” Lupo said.

He added: “The best cities also offer an abundance of highly rated, affordable dining optionsalong with a lively nightlife and plenty of activities to make your transition into the new year unforgettable.”
The report showed that more than 128 million will travel for the New Year holiday this year, of which 65 percent people who drive to your destination.

5. Chicago, Illinois

The west coast city is ranked third with the lowest chance of precipitation on New Year’s Eve.
San Diego has a ton affordable restaurants rated at least 4.5 stars, according to Wallethub.
The city also has the fifth largest number of entertainment stores per capita.
2. Orlando, Florida

Americans ringing in the New Year would also like to imbibe sun in warmer climates, with Orlando, Florida coming in second.

Orlando also ranked as the second most fun city and second in party supply stores.

“It’s no surprise that New York is the best city for New Year’s Eve celebration, given the fact that its ball toss event is probably the most colorful celebration of the holiday anywhere,” Wallethub said in a statement.
The annual New Year event in Times Square is filled with crowds that reach more than a million people.

Big apple it is at the very top in terms of the number of restaurants and is the most favorable for restaurants rated with a minimum of 4.5 stars.
As one of the most walkable cities, New York also has the sixth largest selection of nightlife per capita.
