Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho latest: Manchester United duo likely to stay at Old Trafford amid reports of PSR concerns | Transfer Center news
Kobbie Mainoo is not worried about his Manchester United future, Sky Sports News understands, amid reports the club may need to cash in on academy players to comply with financial rules.
The 19-year-old feels valued by United, who have made it clear they are not actively looking to sell the midfielder or Alejandro Garnach, despite having to be realistic about their PSR and FFP situation.
United are preparing a new contract for Mainoo, former manager Erik ten Hag said Sky Sports News in September, there would be talks with the club’s management team about rewarding the English representative.
His current contract runs until 2027 with the option of an additional year, which includes a built-in performance-related pay rise.
Manuel Ugarte’s summer recruitment was focused on finding a good player for Mainoo and the two showed the prospect of a promising partnership.
Meanwhile, Garnacho has a contract until 2028.
United must sell to buy in order to equip Ruben Amorim with a squad capable of implementing his philosophy effectively, with the focus on changes to players who do not have a long-term future at Old Trafford.
