James Coxall was driving with his family next to a huge hole in his village for a short time when he decided to have enough.
British either overturned or dealt with a massive Cambridgeshire Cutter, UK, Castle Cambs village in the last eight months. But instead of being angry about that, he decided to do something stupid.
With the help of his wife and children, he built a pair of wooden legs lined with denim and lifted them in the middle of a hole filled with rain, giving the look for someone to fall, first.
“We just thought it would be the funniest way to somehow highlight the hole,” Coxall said As it happens Host Nil Köxal. “You have to laugh at the joke, don’t you?”
Prank pays off
The Haverhill Road hole, he says, is one of many in Castle camps, which is on the road leading to a nearby town where the villagers lead their orders. He says he’s going on about four times a week.
According to his own measurements, it is 1.2 meters long, 0.9 meters wide and 10 centimeters deep.
“It’s incredibly frustrating driving on roads with holes everywhere in them, and people are damaging and tires break down,” Coxall said.
So on Sunday he directed his frustration into protest/prank. He says it was a family matter.
“The kids helped. We drilled ourselves in a leg tree. We found the old pair of jeans that went to a charity shop. We dressed them. We filled it with some cloths. And then we screwed up a couple of old shoes at the top,” he said.
“I walked him down under my arm, and the kids went on their bikes. And I, my wife and children put her in a hole in a brick pot to somehow weigh it.”
Almost immediately, Coxall says, he started getting texts from his neighbors asking if his legs were his handmade work.
“Many people who know me know I’m a little joker,” he said.
He also posted a picture of a leg on a local Facebook group, Strange things around Cambridge. His children, he says, became school celebrities for their involvement.
Their hard work seems to have paid off. Four days after the legs grew, the hole was filled.
“I can confirm that the hole concerned … was repaired yesterday,” Jonathan Kitley, a spokesman for the Cambridge City Council, told CBC UE.
He did not comment on his legs.
Coxall says he is glad to see the fixation of the hole. He says the city filled him at least once before, but the repairs did not last long.
“It looks pretty good, but we’ll have to wait and see, right, if the wind and rain survives and cars driving over it.” he said. “I’m not that confident.”
His family project, meanwhile, remains intact.
“They didn’t bury art,” he said. “My wife was driving next to and jumped out of the car and saved art from the side of the road.”
Prankster hole is already looking for its next target. There are plenty of holes in the village, which you can choose, he says.
“Maybe I’ll do something a little different. I’ll try the Titanic sink or something,” he said. “That would be quite cool, right?”
