Liam Wilson and Youssef Dib just threw themselves into a rematch so violent, so chaotic, that it somehow surpassed their first war.
From the first bell it was a pure slaughter. Wilson came in with bad intentions, dropped Dib twice early and looked like he could finish it quickly. But Dib did not have it-he had a deep one, refused to stay down and turned the fight into a comprehensive war. In the middle rounds, they swung like two blocks as they ran into the parking lot.
The tensions were cooked during each damn circle. Judge Chris Condon could be an ejector on Friday night because he had his hands full of posture of the two to separate each other after the bell. Chaos reached its peak when Wilson landed a low shot where Billy Dib – Yes, Youssef’s brother and former world champion – ready to jump on the ropes and throw his hands. The man had to be physically restrained. Wilson lost a point, but no one was holding on to that stage-it was a full major.
After ten rounds of absolute violence, the judges gave Wilson a unanimous victory in the decision with the results of 96-91, 96-91 and 95-92. A fair result, but DIB deserves all respect in the world because it would fight if most folded.
