Sean Bowen produced an extraordinary ride because Booster Bob came out of afar to win Betvictor Greatwood Gold Cup handicap chase in Newbury.

Since Saint Segal and his favorite Billytherealbigs set up a stiff early gallop, Booster Bob seemed to have removed his legs in the early stages, and soon separated from the main group.

As the field began to resolve, it seemed that he did not return to Booster Bob, who still did not invent the mile to run while Saint Segal held a ruthless pace.

It turned out to be too much for Coral Cup winner Paul Nicholls Kandoo Kid, who never threatened to get involved, but Vincenzo suddenly appeared on stage, wanting Sama Thomas another big win on Saturday after the Dori Catade last week.

But nowhere, Booster Bob started running over beaten horses, and even before the last jump, the result began to look inevitable because seven -year -old Olly Murphy became on the ground with all the steps.

The chance of 16/1 eventually crossed the line and a quarter of Vincenz, and Saint Segal remained third.

Bowen, who currently led the race to be champion Jockey, he said Sky Sports Racing: “I don’t know how it happened!

“I actually imagined him to go into today because he is a strange horse, he has a bunch of abilities. We probably made a mistake to run over two miles when most of the time looks like he wants three. It just shows what I can do sometimes.

“He was careful with his jumping. He is a strange old horse, he actually wants softer soil and changed his legs along the way, but as he warmed up, his jumping became faster.

“When one passed, he somehow entered him and when he passed a few more, he took off. On the back of the ditch I felt I could win.

“It’s great for Grahame (Whateley) because he’s a great supporter Olly, so it’s great to get him a big winner. We had a lot of winners for him, but it’s nice to land a big one.”

Murphy said, “I thought I was fired and I thought Sean Bowen was too halfway!

“It was pretty extraordinary. He just couldn’t go early and halfway, I wanted to pull him and save him for next week, but he started.

“He is a very good working horse, reinforcing himself on the trip today. We have engaged him because he can be eager. It was a disaster, but that worked!

“What a Sean ride, I’m happy to have it as my stable jockey. These are the races you want to win.

“Grahame told me this morning that he hadn’t been bet for 20 years, but that he had 5 pounds this morning.”

Moroder returns to the winning form with repeated Grimthorpe

Seamus Mullins’ Moroder pushed the year to regain his title in a virgin bet Grimthorpe handicap chasing on Manister.

The 11-year-old won a competition under James Best 2023, hitting at 18/1 and left the second place in Bet365 Gold Cup at the next beginning to finish his season.

“We poured over around last year and went to the Cheltenham race and then showed us that spring soil is really what he needs, so he will definitely get entry.

“This was the first decent soil we could find and we decided on Christmas to try to come here.

“He came with a lot of gasoline in the tank, we dropped the handicap, but for a good reason because he didn’t run well.

“We just approached our horses and marked and hope that we will be returned in the spring for that little patience.”

Gray dawn back to the track

Gray dawn turned in the almost flawless jumper circle to win in Bet365 Premier chasing on Kelso.

Four horses competition was very charged as a match between Gray Dan Skelton, an irok, who is a leading national candidate for Oliver Greenall and Josh Guerriero.

Harry Skelton was positive from the off 5/6 favorite, as he tried well -supported El Elefante to go with him in the early stages, but Jonjo O’neill Jr was happy to sit from the front couple on Irok.

When El Elefante went down at the 12th fence, Gray Dawning and Iroko had left to fight it, but the market leader traveled well, with Harry Skelton to look over his shoulder with the couple still jumping.

While Iroko tried to collapse in front of, Gray Dawning was simply too strong and fine jump in his last sealed victory, with his rider easier to make down before a two -and -a -half -length victory line.

Gray Dawning had only his third beginning of the year in Kelso, after running at Deep Ground in Betfair Chase in November, before receiving at the competition of King George VI Chase in Kempton on boxing day.

Dan Skelton said, “That was really good. We wanted to see him back to what he could and jumped nicely.

“Obviously, it is very, very good and everyone knows that it is very, very good – we just didn’t have the conditions and situations to show it this year.

“After Haydock, my feeling was that the ground is different, you would get a different result. The soil today is what we want us to have that day but fair play for the winner [Royale Pagaille] – He loves that country, and we are not.

“I actually felt that he recovered for King George in time, but the mistake in the first and pace of Il est Francais left, it denies us.

“There was more of our foundation today, it is left, there are a lot of ticks in the boxes and he has achieved a really good performance.”

Gray Dawning still has an entrance to Cheltenham Gold Cup, but Skelton intends to go to Aintree 3 April 3.

He added, “This picture of a golden glass is intended for next year. I hope that this time we will install in something a little different next year, but we have to do the right things and make the right calls and feel like we have.

“We are delighted to be in the position we are in. We returned a little and I kept saying that we must be sure that we have a polite spring with him because he is one of our leading horses.

“Ok, he was a good second in Haydock, but the other is the second and we want the winner, so today he left and did so impressively was great.”

Iroko left unchanged 12/1 shot for National with bookmakers, and Greenall believed that numerous factors had passed on his candidate for Aintree on this occasion.

He said, “He was running well, Jonjo just felt that the trail was probably a little sharp for him in such a rating.

“I walked around the path before and watched the first race outside and I thought it would drive almost softer than married to soft, but Jonjo said he felt like good soil on it.

“I was pleased with him, but I think there was no excuse today. He had a few running and he was able to.

“He was against a good horse and I hope we will go to the citizens – he deserves to go. I think the trip is what he wants is because it seems that he always does his best job in the end.

“It usually travels a little better in their races, but they probably went pretty fast.

“Now he’ll just be ticking and has to jump a national fence.”
