Hegsetth arrives in Gitmo | Handcuffs

Minister of Defense Pete Hegsetth arrived on Tuesday at the Guantanamo Bay on Cuba, and his first trip to the Navy installation since it was confirmed at the spot in January.
Hegsetth was expected to receive briefings about all missionary operations in the base, including custody in which illegal migrants were deported from the United States settled before they took to their native countries.
“He arrived at the Guantanamo Navy Station on the first lines of the war against the US southern border,” the secretary wrote on X.
It was also expected that they would meet with troops at the base and on the USS Thomas Hudner. Pictures posted on Hegseth’s X account show him a meeting and eating with troops stationed in Gitmo.

“These warriors directly support the concern and deportation of dangerous illegal foreigners,” he wrote. “We can’t thank them enough or their families.”
The base is best known for detention suspects for terrorism, including those behind September 11, 2001, attacks. President Donald Trump approved the detention of illegal immigrants at the facility shortly after he took his duty on January 20th.
In January, Trump said he wanted to expand the immigrant detention center in Guantánam to hold as many as 30,000 people.

“Some of them are so bad that we don’t even believe in countries to keep them because we don’t want to come back, so we’ll send them to Guantánamo,” Trump said at the time.
