Virginia McCaskey, longtime owner Chicago bearsHe died. She was 102 years old.
McCaskey has controlled Chicago Nfl franchise Since 1983, when she inherited ownership after the death of her father and founder of the team of George Halas. George was also the first person to serve as a bear coach.
The McCaskey family made a statement across the bear, saying that McCaskey lived a “full” life.

“Although we are sad, we comfort knowing that Virginia Halas McCaskey lived a long, full life filled with faith and is now with the love of its life on Earth,” the statement said.

“She has led the bears for four decades and based each business decision on what is best for players, coaches, staff and fans.”
Bears have won the franchise lonely Super Bowl with McCaskey on the forehead. Chicago defeated New England Patriots in the Super Bowl 20, largely thanks to “Monsters of the Midway” – a nickname that sent a 1985 bear defense.

Virginia Marion Halas was born in Chicago. She continued to study business control at Drexel University in Philadelphia. She married Eda McCaskay in 1943.
The couple eventually had 11 children together. Ed died in 2008. Virginia was the longest owner in any of the main sports leagues in the US.
