“Unfortunately, as a state, we have a very low ratio of law enforcement towards its citizens. And here in our county our community supports the implementation of the law. And our local legislative body supports the implementation of the law. They understand that less police have a direct connection with multiple crime,” said Myers.

Myers said there are a number of studies that compare the ratio of law enforcement in communities and the impact of this crime.

“Washington is very low, but given the state itself, we are in the first third given our ratio of law enforcement and community members. We are below 2%, which is still a low number.”

Myers said that the number of crimes reported in recent years has remained flat in Kittitas County, despite the growth of the population in the county.

“I think the main reason is the composition of our community. And it is not that our citizens are better than other citizens. It is not that our Government is better here than others, or do we do a better job. I think it is a combination of small things that really make a difference,” he said is myers.

Myers added that there are any obstacles that have to overcome when it comes to budgets, but said they were lucky to have Local government support.

“Our local administration supports us. And this is where the difference is that we are able to put more implementation of the law there. We understand the police in the community. We understand that we are part of the community. And our philosophy here in Sheriff’s office is to work with our community.

Although the crime rate has not increased in the county, Myers said MPs and detectives “They work hard, making more arrests and implementing more traffic implementation than ever.”

“The arrests of custody in 2024 increased by 12% compared to 2023, to the almost doublement of arrests from 5 years ago. Our office sends more cases to the County Prosecutor than ever, and we continue to work closely with prosecutors and courts to Our county brought justice in this, “Myers said in his address.

“I do not try to criticize anyone here, but they have no support for their legislature. And from there comes funding. This is what allows them to have an adequate number of police affairs on the street, and an adequate number of detectives, an adequate number of forensic support.
