Ange Postecoglou has confirmed the long absence of the Tottenham star due to injury

Tottenham Hotspur could be without injured left-back Destiny Udogia for up to six weeks, manager Ange Postecoglou has revealed.

The Italian was replaced at an early stage Spurs vs Wolves draw 2-2 last weekend, contributing to a significantly depleted backline that has been missing Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven and Ben Davies in recent weeks.

Udogie was replaced by Sergio Reguilon, who was made available transfer in the summer, and now it seems that he will remain on the sidelines for a long time.

“No, unfortunately, no,” Postecoglou told reporters when asked if any of his injured players would return for the match Newcastle United on Saturday.

“So there’s Destiny obviously with these hamstrings, you know, it looks like he’s missing six weeks, obviously we’ve lost [Rodrigo] Bentancur suspended, none of the injured have returned yet. We also had a small mistake due to an illness that ran through the team, so we missed a few training sessions, but that’s okay, we’ll be fine.

“Rich [Richarlison] and Mikey [Moore] there will be the next two out of the ranks, hopefully next week at some point, and then Ben [Davies]Micky van de Van and Romero around the same time, so at the end of January they’re all kind of planning to come back.”

Spurs‘ a miserable string of injuries coincided with a series of poor performances, leaving European league places in the lower part of the first league table.

They have collected just four points from their last 18 available – losing four of their previous six matches – but still possess the second most prolific attack in the division – 41 goals scored by Postecoglou’s side, behind only the league leaders Liverpool.
