Virgil van Dijk makes predictions for the future as Liverpool contract talks continue
Virgil van Dijk has backed himself to continue playing at the highest level for at least another four years as he reaffirmed his love for current club Liverpool.
The Dutch centre-back is approaching the final six months of his contract and has already turned down at least one extension offer, although he recently confirmed that he did not set a deadline for his talks with Liverpool.
In perhaps the biggest hint of his future yet, Van Dijk admitted Amazon Prime that he feels mutual love from Liverpool and has no desire to step away from the spotlight at this point in his career.
“I love the club, the club loves me,” he vowed. “I love the fans, the fans love me and that is a very good foundation for success.
“In my opinion, I can play another three, four years at least at the highest level. We’ll see what the future brings.”
Former Liverpool Captain Jordan Henderson, who made 182 appearances alongside the Dutchman during his time at Anfield, also warned the Reds that securing Van Dijk’s future should be a “top” priority.
“I feel like Virgil could play until he’s 39 or 40 if he wanted to,” Henderson said. “For me, if they give him a contract for two, three, four years, that would be a pretty good deal for the club.”
