Marcelo, who played 15 seasons in Real Madrid, announced the departure from professional football at the age of 36.
Former Brazil and Real Madrid defender Marcelo announced his retirement from football, lowering his career curtain with a missed trophy that included five UEFA League triumphs.
Marcelo, 36, played for Real from 2007 to 2022 and left the Spanish club with 25 trophies in 546 games, including six Laliga titles.
Defender scored in the 2014 Champions League final, which was given by Real “La Deci”, their long -awaited ten European crown, starting with a decade of domination in which the club won five more.
Marcelo was also part of the team that won three Champions League titles in a row between the 2015-16 and 2017-18 season.
“My player’s journey ends here, but I still have so much for football,” he said in a video posted on the Social Media Platform on Thursday. “Thanks for everything.”
Marcelo also won two Copa del Rey trophies, five Spanish Super Cup, four World Cup World Cup and three European Super Cup with Real, which is also a captain at the end of his stay in Madrid.
“One of the greatest beds in Real Madrid and World Football History history and we had a privilege to watch it for a long time,” Real Madrid President Florentino Perez said in a statement.
“He is one of our greatest legends, and Real Madrid is and will always be his home.”
Marcelo last played for the Brazilian serial side of Fluminense, where he started his youth and his professional career, winning Copa Libertadores 2023 before leaving his consent in November.
He also made 58 appearances for Brazil, winning the 2013 Confederation Cup.
