Netball Nations Cup: England was supposed to make an attack in the defeat of South Africa earlier, says Tamsin Greenway | Netball News
Tamsin Greenway says that the lack of attacking changes in England was “expensive” in the defeat of the Cup of nations in South Africa and believes that Alicia Scholes had to come earlier.
Roses Vitality last weekend in Nottingham were set aside 61-59, as the foreign Jess Thirlby suffered her first defeat of the competition after defeating Malawi in their opener.
On the eve of this Saturday match against Uganda, to live on heavenly sports, Greenway called on England to refresh their lineup faster.
“We said it would be a close game [against South Africa]. We know that the history of the two go against each other and they coincide very well, “Greenway said.
“That scored, there were a lot of lessons. I’m surprised we didn’t see an attacking change from England.
“I think they will regret that decision because I think it was expensive in the end.
“I think I wish I had seen Scholes enter the game first, just to see what’s going on.
“Just remember that you have Amy Carter on the bench. Maybe Emma Thacker was supposed to come early and not in the last quarter.
“I think it has become very static in the circle because there was not much movement. So, you have to change something from the front to give the ball better.”
‘England played better in a defeat than with than Malawi Win’
Greenway also quickly emphasized the attack by South Africa, which could renew its rivalry with England in Sunday’s final.
“Jess Shaw, she was at 23 Feeds, was solid, but when you look at Chawane, who was on 31 feeds, it just encouraged that difference, which is an offensive courage.
“The difference between Chawane and A (kamogelo) masses, in terms of the dynamics they have entered in a circle, ours lost itself and actually made all the mistakes, sometimes it was expensive.
“Whether they change the staff or go tactically differently, I didn’t see it for 60 minutes.”
Thirlby remained positive despite the result and insisted that England produced a better effect than they showed in 62-36 victory over Malavia.
She said Sky Sports: “I thought there were a lot of good things. In fact, most likely a better performance than [the Malawi] The game, but not the same result and this is the part we have to keep for next weekend. “
When asked about the need for earlier attacks, Thirlby said, “I think it’s hard, they were great, and then we had the one who hit the place and refused in the hands of South Africa.
“Did you see if you saw if you saw in the previous 45 minutes, and I believed in a smart Jess (Shaw).
“Of course we can look for these changes. I believed in that group and wanted to give them the opportunity to go.”
