Coventry 0 – 2 Leeds

Leeds moved five points at the top of the championship, while they beat Coventry 2-0.

Joel Piroe and Jayden Bogle have done damage in the first half to secure three points in Coventry Building Society Society on Wednesday night.

This means that Leeds is now five points ahead of Burnley and Sheffield United, although the latter have a match in his hand this weekend when Daniel Ferke’s side is in FA Cup action.

Coventry had the opportunity to achieve five wins in a row and move at the level with the sides in the play-offs, but instead of Frank Lampard, the side of the 11th, three points of the top six remains.

Errors in the Coventry smooth Leeds path to victory

Leeds cruised at halftime with a two -goal leadership without having to break sweat. The first came after Ellis Simms’ Stray Pass found her way right toward Manor Solomon, who then entered Piro to put his 13th season in the back of the net.

Another helped another mistake, but it followed after a fine work from Bogle. The right back was driving deep into the Coventry box, before being donated to the ball back over Oliver Dovina, and the gift took it to finish.

Both sides had a chance in the second half, but the goalkeepers went out to the top. At one end, Dovin made some fine savings to deny Piroe, Solomon and Largie Ramadani.

While in the second Illan Meslier, who had critics this season, he made two sensational savings. The first was particularly great because he lowered low to the left to refuse Ellis Simms.
