Divers go back to the water to retrieve wreckage planes, victims of a collision in the DC aircraft
The divers are expected to return to the Potomac River on Friday, as part of recovery and investigation after killing 67 people in peace in the most deadly air disaster of the United States for almost a quarter of a century.
Investigators have already recovered the dictabonation of the voice and the recorder of data on the aircraft aircraft crashed with a military helicopter while the plane landed on Wednesday night at the Ronald Reagan National Airport near Washington, DC
Everyone on board two aircraft were killed, and officials examined the military pilot actions, as well as air traffic control after the helicopter obviously took off on the path of Bombardier CRJ700 aircraft operated by the American Airlines. Officials of multiple agencies involved in the investigation would not speculate on the cause on Thursday.
Authorities have still sought the UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter recorder, Defense Minister of Peta Hegsetth at Fox News Channel said on Friday. Other collision factors, including the helicopter height and whether the crew used its night vision glasses, are still under investigation, Hegsetth said.
More than 40 bodies have been pulled out of the water, said the Associate Press Law Officer. The official was not authorized to discuss the details of the investigation and spoke on the condition of anonymity.
Air Traffic Controller Tested
The plane carried 60 passengers and four crew members, and three soldiers were on a helicopter. One air traffic controller was responsible for coordination of helicopter traffic and the arrival and departure of the aircraft when collided, according to a report of the US Federal Air Force administration received by Associate Press.
These duties are often divided between two people, but the airport usually combines roles at 9:30 pm, after traffic starts slowing down. On Wednesday, the tower supervisor directed to combine earlier.
“The location of the position was not normal during the day of the day and the amount of traffic,” the report said.
The positions are regularly combined when the controllers must deviate from the console for interruption, during the change of change, or when the air traffic is slow, said the person, talking about anonymity to discuss internal procedures.
FAA has long struggled with the lack of air traffic controllers.
Officials said the flight conditions were clear because the jet arrived from Wichite, Kan. A top aircraft of the army said the crew of a helicopter, a black hawk, is “very experienced” and familiar with a congested flying that occurs daily in the city.
“Both pilots have previously flew this specific route, at night. It was not either of them,” said Jonathan Koziol, head of the Air Force Staff. The maximum helicopter height at the time was 60 meters, Koziol said.
It was not immediately clear if it exceeded that restriction.
Air space around Reagan National can cause even the most experienced pilots, regardless of ideal conditions. They must move hundreds of other commercial aircraft, military aircraft and limited areas around sensitive places.
Just over 24 hours before the fatal collision, a different regional jet had to bypass the second chance to land in Reagan National after it was advised about a military helicopter nearby, according to a flight tracking web site and control records.
Data retrievement may be a long -lasting procedure
Air accident investigations may take several months, and experts warn that no two probes are the same, and the flight records are not always able to provide full answers. Almost all accidents include multiple factors.
Two recorders are required in civil aviation: Recorder votes for a pilot cab (CVR) for pilot voices or cockpit sounds and a separate flight recorder (FDR). Some devices combine both functions.
After contact with water, they must first be dried thoroughly and the connections cleaned to ensure that the data would not be accidentally deleted. Audio and data files are downloaded and copied.
The data itself means a little at first. It must be decode from RAW files before turning into graphs and synchronized with other data, such as the transfer of air traffic control.

Laboratory experts sometimes use “spectral analysis”, a way of deciphering fast sounds or barely sound alarms.
The rank of accidents in the 1990s in which recorders stopped working when the power was lost, LED is LTSB to recommend enough security forces to secure 10 minutes of additional recording.
The collision on Wednesday was the deadliest in the United States from November 12, 2001, when the American Airlines flight flew into the living space of the port of Belle, NY, immediately after taking off from Kennedy’s airport, killing all 260 people on board and five people on Earth.
The last large fatal collision involving the US commercial airline occurred in 2009 near Buffal, all on board the Bombardier DHC-8 propeller aircraft, together with one person on Earth, led the total number of deaths to 50.
Experts often point out that aircraft travel is very safe.
