Arsenal ‘close to finalization’ of a Nawnt Defender contract
Arsenal was supposed to sign him/Ny Gotham FC Defender Jenna NighSwonger for a $ 100,000 transfer fee (£ 80,335).
Athletic reported that both clubs ‘near the completion of the agreement’ for The Women’s Team USA (Nawnt) a player, who is not a contract at the end of 2025.
NighSwong joined Gotham in 2023, earning a badge for National Women’s Falcon League (Nwsl) ‘rookie of the year’ in its debut season. The defender has signed a three -year contract with the club, but Arsenal’s interest will see her going to an early transfer.
Included by the NAWNT department, which claimed Olympic gold in Paris 2024, a versatile left legging will be joined by compatriot Emily Fox in northern London.
Katie McCabe has had a left -hand position for several seasons, but the introduction to NighSwonger will provide Arsenal with much needed depth and versatility.
Renee Slegers chief coach explained his intentions to choose last year, deciding to start Steph Catley in the center of the defense, which means that fans should be most widely signed by fans.
The signature will also give the opportunity the Summers to play McCabe further on the field, and the cloud of injury is currently hanging over the head of the initial wing player Caitlin Ford.
Natural left back, NighSwonger can also play in a central defense or throw out occasional shift in the middle of the field. Fans will hope that the contract will be concluded early, providing the side of a little relief after McCabe’s red map suspension for the upcoming blockbuster against Manchester City.
The 24-year-old is not the first American to cross at Women’s Super League (WSL) during transfer in January, following Chelsea’s record acquisition of Naomi Girma.
