3 young African brothers drowned in the Mediterranean Sea trying to get to Europe, says a rescue group
Three young African brothers drowned, making a dangerous central Mediterranean transition with her parents, the German humanitarian group said on Monday after saving 17 people in a chaotic scene in which they survived.
Two toddler brothers died when the smuggler’s boat sank, while the survivors reported that the third child had drowned earlier on their journey from Libya on a silent fiberglass ship, said Stephen Schrenzenmeier, head of Operation at Sea 1.
“This morning around 7 am, the Sea Punk crew I heard the help of help nearby,” said the UA Group Post on social mediatogether with several pictures that show people in the water. “Right in front of the arch, several people were in the water, scattered into different groups.”
The body of a three -year -old was pulled from the sea during rescue on Sunday, while the two -year -old died on a sail for a saving ship, while medical staff were trying to rescue life, he said he was Gerson Reschke’s spokesman. The survivors reported that a few more people, including the boy’s brother, died during the trip.
People descended on both sides of the boat in the water when the saving ship arrived in response to an emergency call. The survivors screamed and walked away from each other, while the rescuers entered a small boat and picked up people one by one, Schrezenmeier told Associated Press.
The family of three survived the temptation, including a pregnant woman who was transferred to Malta for treatment, while her husband and child were taken to Italy, said Schrezenmeier. “We really hope he’ll gather again very quickly,” he said.
The Maltese authorities also transferred a man who had difficulty breathing after swallowing seawater and had a strong hypothermia.
All the people on board were from Subsahar Africa, Schrezenmeier said.
She saved herself in a part of the search and rescue zone, which is closer to the southernmost island of Lampedus, Italy since the Small State of EU Island. Schrezenmeier praised both the Maltese and Italian authorities for a quick response to their help calls.
Sea Punch 1 transferred 15 survivors and two bodies to the Italian coastal guardian, leading them to Lampedus. Many have shown signs of severe hypothermia, the group said.
“Our thoughts are with relatives who have lost the people they loved today,” said the group Social media.
The Italian Coast Guard also picked up about 38 people saved by fishermen, Schrenzenmeier said.
Last month, said a different rescue group More than 40 migrants feared dead Off Lampedus after a lone 11-year-old survivor said that the boat he was on crowded.
A missing UN migrant project puts the number of dead and missing in the dangerous central Mediterranean to over 24.506 from 2014-2024, many of which are lost at sea. The project says that this number may be greater, because many deaths remain unchanged, with the view of the so -called spiritual ships with anyone on board and the remains of people who wash ashore in Libya are not associated with any famous shipwreck.
Earlier this month, Spanish coastal guards saved a child who was born On an inflatable vessel that migrants transported to the canaries. The newborn was safely recovered with his mother on Monday, the Coast Guard Service announced the UA Social Media Message.
