Amorim must sell Man Utd man who earns more than Dorga & Gittens combined
There is no doubt about it Manchester United are in desperate need of investment this month to try to turn their fortunes around on the pitch under the new boss Reuben Amorim.
However, it is unclear how much money the 39-year-old will have available after previous funds were squandered by former manager Erik ten Hag during the summer window.
The Dutchman cost the Red Devils hierarchy almost £200m with their transfers during the summer transfer window, with several new additions failing to have the desired effect.
Joshua Zirkzee came from Bologna for a reported £36.5mand there is only scored four times in 31 appearances for the club, he was even hauled off before half-time in the Carabao Cup clash with Newcastle United.
As a result, Amorim has this month targeted a number of players to try and help him in his task of returning United to their former glory during the days of Sir Alex Ferguson’s tenure.
United are trying to sign new players this January
Patrick Dorgu is a name that has quickly become a household name among United fans following their interest in full-back Leece in recent days – hopefully ending their left-back crisis.
During the first months of Amorim’s reign, Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui had to share responsibility for appearing out of possession, and the Danish international’s move has improved the situation considerably.
Fabrizio Romano confirmed yesterday that the Red Devils submitted an offer region of €30m (£25m) for his services, and Dorgu himself wants to move to Old Trafford.
In the attacking department, Borussia Dortmund ace Jamie Bynoe-Gittens is at it again emerged as a potential target with Alejandro Garnach’s future at the club still in the air.
United would face stiff competition from the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool for the Englishman’s signature, which is understandable given his recent form in Germany which has already seen him scored 11 times during 2024/25.
However, if the club are to make such additions in the near future, departures are just as important, with Amorim desperate to clear some of the deadwood before the end of the window.
United player who earns more than Dorgu & Gittens combined
The Red Devils’ recruitment of late has certainly left a lot to be desired among fans, with extortionate transfer fees and wages paid to players who simply don’t deserve the money they’re being given.
Brazilian midfielder Casemiro is just one example that has cost the club a a whopping £70m from Real Madrid in the summer of 2022, also delivered mammoth £350k a week within your contract.
He has failed to get results under Amorim this season, looking out of rhythm and has not made a single first-team appearance since the Carabao Cup defeat to Eddie Howe’s men over six weeks.
Casemiro is not the only one who has disappointed lately, with the left back Luke Shaw unable to make an impact in the first team after recent setbacks due to injury – not the first time such a situation has occurred in recent times.
Englishman he joined the club for £30 million from Southampton back in the summer of 2014, but since then he made only 278 appearances in 11 seasons, averaging just 25 games per season.
In the last two years together, the now 29-year-old has managed just that announce a total of 18 performanceswith injuries plaguing him and preventing the former promising star from making an impact under the new boss.
However, he simply never seems to overcome his various issues, with the club having to brutally part ways with the defender and try to offload him in the current transfer window – that is if any club would take a chance on a full-back.

It’s a real shame to see a fans’ favorite suffer, but ultimately the hierarchy are only losing millions of pounds by keeping him on the books, especially when you consider the fact that Shaw has an extraordinary pocketbook £150k a week in the northwest.
His subsequent salary makes him far more than the transfer targets of Dorgu and Gittens combined, with the aforementioned pair currently earning just £10k and £50k-a-week with their current employers.
It may be an unpopular decision, but with the club’s recent cost-cutting operation at Old Trafford, brutal calls have to be made to prevent the Red Devils losing any more money.
Such assets would add a lot to their scheme, potentially opening up new opportunities for Amorim in the market to bring in new talent to help steer the side in the right direction, which is why the manager should sell Shaw.
