8/10 The Spurs star just made himself unyielding to Ange
Well, it wasn’t as simple as many would have hoped, but then again, it never really is Tottenham Hotspur.
Ange Postecoglou the side took their chances to automatically progress to the next round of the tournament European league a world of good with their needlessly nervy 3-2 win over Hoffenheim tonight.
However, in terms of individual performances, the visitors were quite mixed.

However, there were two starters who stood out for the right reasons and now cannot be dismissed for the weekend, including Heung-min’s son.
Son’s performance against Hoffenheim
So after a few weeks in which signed a contract extension and received plenty of criticism for some rather lackluster displays, Son really stepped it up tonight.
The South Korean superstar turned back the clock and was a constant threat throughout the pitch, although his most significant contribution to victory was, of course, his two goals.
Now, while there was an element of luck with his first goal, in the way it bounced off a Hoffenheim player, his second was down to his sensational finish.
Moreover, that second shot saved the team from a possible disastrous result and another game where they managed to find a way to drop points.
Not surprisingly, soccer.London’s Alasdair Gold was suitably impressed on the captain’s performance, giving him a match rating of 8/10 and writing that he ‘worked hard’ throughout and was there when his team needed him.
All in all, the 32-year-old performed admirably, although he wasn’t the only one who made a real difference, because James Maddison also impressed.
James Maddison’s performance against Hoffenheim
Yes, the other standout starter for Spurs tonight was undoubtedly Maddison, who hasn’t been given too many chances to show what he can do from the off in recent weeks.
Like his captain, the former Leicester City star was everywhere in the first half and practically took the game to points.
A “world-class” creator, as they call him former professional Dean Saundershe got things going with the opening goal just three minutes in, and 19 minutes later he assisted Son’s first goal.
Not surprisingly, Gold was also pleased with what he saw of the English, awarding it a score of 8/10 as well as simply writing that it was ‘a really good performance from the midfielder.’
Fortunately, the high praise is more than backed up by the 28-year-old’s stats, as in 89 minutes of action he produced an expected goals and assists combination of 1.23, took 61 touches, maintained a passing accuracy of 92%, played three key passes, created one big opportunity, completed 100% of his long balls, won six duels on the ground, made two clearances, received three fouls and made one tackle.

Ultimately, Maddison put in a truly impressive performance for Postecoglou tonight, as did Son, and with another must-win game coming up at the weekend, neither player should be dropped from the starting line-up, as without them the night would end uu at best a draw.
