AOC complains to Jon Stewart that ‘normalized’ Trump is ‘much more dangerous’
Tail. Alexandria Ocasio-CortezDN.Y., and liberal comedian Jon Stewart lamented the “normalization” of President Donald Trump by Democrats and Big Tech during the latest episode of “The Weekly Show with Jon Stewart” podcast, which aired Thursday.
Stewart marveled at how the Democrats preserved “decorum” throughout Trump’s inauguration on Monday, calling it a “surreal sight” four years after the Capitol riot.
“Somehow, [Trump] clowns them. It doesn’t look like adherence to protocol, it looks like submission,” he noted.
Stewart said the party’s intense opposition to Trump during the campaign now seems “performative.”
“When you create apocalyptic messages about a fascist—” Stewart began.
“Verbatim!” Ocasio-Cortez chimed in.
“Literally, who comes in here and does these things, and then when they win, sit down with watercress sandwiches and cream cheese, and do the whole nine yards, you wonder if you believed what you said before?” Stewart continued. “Or was that something that was just part of your message?”
The progressive congresswoman agreed with Stewart’s assessment, saying that Trump is “much more dangerous” this time because he is “much more normalized” than he was during his first term.

“The first time, people were really on edge, they were on guard, they were very cautious about any break with those norms. This time, the norms become him. The norms accept him,” she continued.
Despite years of tension between Big Tech leaders and President Trump, CEOs of major tech companies warmed to Trump after the election.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Apple CEO Tim Cook, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, Google CEO Sundar Pichai and Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk attended the president’s inauguration on Monday.
Ocasio-Cortez cited luxury designer Oscar de la Renta, who dressed the women of the First and Second Families at inauguration events, as signs of a cultural shift.
“All those people who were afraid of associating with him before. From the most ordinary, basic level, to the most elite level, now they are all, everyone,” she continued.
“Because this is now a billionaire feeding frenzy. It’s a kissing race. Yeah, how can I show my loyalty to Donald Trump to get my digs?”
“What’s really important for people to understand now and every day of this administration is that you’re screwed. You’re screwed, dude! Like, everybody’s screwed,” she said. “And he goes up there, and he says what he wants, but he’s just the quintessential New York con man.”
