The 26-year-old, who scored a sensational 15 goals and 14 assists in all competitions during his best season at Eintracht Frankfurt, was regarded as one of the best all-round strikers available on the market (David Ornstein), so Spurs officials will be very disappointed to miss out on his services.
Now Postecoglou’s side have once again entered the market for another wide player, as they look to support their manager who has been forced to deal with a serious injury crisis at N17 throughout the campaign.
Tottenham are believed to be the main contenders for Tyler Dibling’s signature from Southampton, according to Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, but his England counterpart Lyall Thomas has meanwhile reported that the 18-year-old will command a hefty 55 million pounds transfer fee.
The price quoted for Dibling could be too much for Tottenham in mid-season, but there is another potential loan option in the form of the Barcelona striker Ansu Fati.
The Spanish representative spent 2023/2024. on loan at Brighton, where he scored four goals and registered one assist in a total of 30 appearances, since returning to the Camp Nou and enduring a very mixed season.
Fati has suffered from several injury problems this season, keeping him out of Hansi Flick’s first team, and has failed to make any real impact when available.
Tottenham have proposed to sign Ansu Fati on loan
According to a Spanish media source, Tottenham could make an offer £227,000-a-week attacker way back to Premier League.
Indeed, it is believed that Spurs proposed Fati on loan from Barcelonawhich would include a purchase option. The Catalans could be tempted by this offer, as they are actively looking for a new club for the 22-year-old.
However, Tottenham are set to pick up a hefty chunk of his wages and Fati is clearly more in favor of staying at his current club despite the squad’s status.
Despite this, Postecoglou’s men apparently “intended” to sign Fati before the deadline.
