Lamine Yamal’s agent names next Barcelona academy star to watch in 2025
Barcelona star Lamine Yamal’s agent has named 16-year-old midfielder Guille Fernandez as a talent for fans to watch out for in 2025.
Since making his senior debut in early 2023, Yamal has established himself as one of the The first European wingsbrilliant for both Barcelona and Spain despite the fact that he is still waiting to celebrate his 18th birthday in July.
La Masia continues to churn out young stars. Pau Cubarsi and Marc Casado have been regulars for Hansi Flick’s senior side this season, while 17-year-old midfielder Marc Bernal looked set for a breakthrough season before suffering a serious injury.
Now Yamal’s agent, Jorge Mendes, has pegged Fernandez as a potential star Barcelonafuture.
“I’m not going to talk about just one, because if I talk, I’ll have to talk about another and another,” he said Mundo Deportivo. “It is important that everyone follows good examples and things will surely go well from there.
“I’ll give you just one example, Guille, who was already in the first team, who also has enormous quality, a player who was delighted by the best European clubs when they saw him in the Spanish youth selections.
“They already followed him well. He is a different type of player, with the quality to get to the top.”
Fernandez spent the pre-season with Flick’s team and was an unused substitute in both La Liga and Champions League this year after being invited several times to join the senior training sessions.
A natural central midfielder, Fernandez has kept his eye on goal for Barca Athletic, occasionally operating directly behind the strikers to make the most of his finishing abilities.
