Devin Haney reportedly dropped his lawsuit against Ryan Garcia, and Kingry agreed to use VADA as a drug testing agency for the rematch. As such, the second fight between the two is now underway. However, it has not been officially announced yet.
Claim dismissed
Reporter Cynthia Conte broke the news, and Haney published his reaction, saying Ryan was not a “duck” for agreeing to his terms. The two fighters met with Turki Al-Sheikh last Saturday, presumably to discuss a rematch.
Conte says the condition for Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) to drop the suit was for Garcia (24-1, 20 KOs) to agree to VADA, which he has now done. No word on if this will be a fight in weight, when or where it will happen. Haney said in an interview last Saturday that his next fight will be at 143 or 144.
Haney, 26, and his father, Bill, really want this fight. They need this match to restore their credibility after Ryan completely destroyed the previously undefeated two-division world champion on April 20th.
Going into the fight, many thought that Ryan had gone crazy due to his strange behavior. He acted like he was ready to be taken away Bellvue Mental Hospitaland with his act he made everyone completely crazy. It was perfect acting by Ryan.
When he entered the ring, he immediately staggered Haney with a left hook in the first round and beat him like a drum. In the last four rounds of the fight, it looked like Ryan purposely let Haney survive so he could continue beating him senseless. It was hard to watch.
Last April, Ryan upset Haney, defeating him by majority decision over 12 rounds at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Haney was knocked down three times in the fight, once in the 7th, 10th and 11th. The scores were 114-110, 115-109.
Garcia accepts the terms
