Trump’s ‘shock and awe’: Forget the first 100 days, the new president shows a frenetic pace in the first 100 hours
Buckle up.
President Donald Trump is back in the White House and moving at warp speed.
In his inaugural address, the new president promised that things across the country “will change starting today, and it will change very quickly.”
And a few moments later, The white house Deputy Chief of Staff Taylor Budowich took to social media to tease, “Now comes the SHOCK AND AFRAID.”
They weren’t kidding.
TRUMP UNPLUGGED: WHAT THE NEW PRESIDENT IS DOING THAT BIDEN RARELY DID
Trump has signed an avalanche of executive orders and actions in his the first eight hours in the officewhich not only delivered on big campaign promises but also allowed the returning president to flex his executive muscles as well as address some long-standing grievances.
The president immediately cracked down on immigration, moved toward a trade war with major allies and adversaries, reversed many of the policies they had implemented former President Bidenincluding repealing most of the previous administration’s federal actions on diversity and energy and climate provisions.

He also caused major controversy by pardoning or commuting the sentences of approximately 1,500 supporters who participated in the January 6, 2021, attack on the US Capitol in an unsuccessful attempt to overturn congressional confirmation of Biden’s 2020 election victory. Among those who received commutations were some who violently attacked cops on one of America’s darkest days.
Trump also fired some top government officials, made a high-profile announcement of a half-trillion dollar technology investment, held unscripted and broad, informal and impromptu press conferences during his first two days back in the White House, and even renamed the Gulf of Mexico the Gulf of America.
“I think it’s brilliant how they handled it, that they took action right away. That’s exactly what he needs to do and that’s exactly what people voted for,” veteran Republican strategist Kristin Davison told Fox News.
“Americans vote for decisive, quick action and real leadership. And Trump understands that more than anyone. I think he and his team knew how important it was to show that they heard what the people wanted and that they responded with leadership,” Davison argued.

Longtime Republican consultant Alex Castellanos agreed
“He’s flooding the zone. He’s advocating action. He’s demonstrating action. He’s rallying a wave of American support for a massive transformation of government,” Castellanos, a veteran of numerous GOP presidential campaigns, told Fox News.
Seasoned Democratic strategist Joe Caiazzo did not dispute Trump’s frenetic actions.
“The speed of this should not surprise anyone. Trump has made it abundantly clear that he will act quickly, he will act boldly, and he will do exactly what he told voters he would do,” Caiazzo said.
But he argued that “the things he’s doing will have a direct negative impact on working families from coast to coast. It’s also a signal that he doesn’t respect the rule of law.”
TRUMP’S AVALANCHE OF EXECUTIVE ORDERS
Asked if Trump’s actions were what Americans voted for last fall, Caiazzo replied, “Of course not. What Americans voted for was cheaper groceries. What Donald Trump is going to give us is a litany of policies that work to make our institutions worse , which function to enrich the rich and cement their position among the oligarchy in this country.”
There’s another reason for Trump’s fast pace – even though he’s a new president, he’s also a term-limited president and a lame duck president. And by Labor Day, much of the political world will begin looking ahead to the 2026 midterm elections.
“This is his second term. He has to move quickly,” emphasized Davison.
Trump’s show of force in the early days of his second administration also contrasts with that of eight years ago, when he first entered the White House.
The president and his team are much more experienced the second time around, and the supporting cast is extremely loyal to Trump.
“There was gridlock and bottlenecks in the last administration because there were people who disagreed with him,” a senior White House source told Fox News. “Now we have an entire infrastructure and staff built around him, as his support. When he says something, it comes true. It’s a testament to him and the team he built.”

Credit goes to the White House as well Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, who, as co-chairman of Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign, kept the trains on the tracks.
“What Susie has done is look at Trump as a whole and find the best players and put them in the best positions to support the president.
