Rohit Sharma’s security has been beefed up in Mumbai
The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has made special arrangements for talismanic cricketer Rohit Sharma’s Ranji Trophy comeback match. It is to be noted that Rohit will be playing a Ranji Trophy match after a gap of nine years.
The Indian captain will feature in the Mumbai vs Jammu & Kashmir match to be played at Sharad Pawar Cricket Academy in Bandra Kurla Complex. The match starts on January 23 and a large turnout is expected.

MCA is specially preparing Rohit Sharma’s comeback match
MCA has made special security arrangements due to Rohit Sharma’s presence. A huge crowd is expected at the match as they will watch Rohit play in a Ranji match after nine years. However, only 500 places will be available
“Additional security has been arranged and we have also increased the seating capacity of fans to 500,” an MCA official was quoted as saying by PTI. The seats are expected to be full due to the presence of high level international cricketers in the match.
Rohit announced his decision to play in the Ranji Trophy during a press conference on the selection of the Indian team for the Champions Trophy 2025. He also trained with the Mumbai team earlier after returning from Australia.
There have been questions about Rohit’s commitment after his poor form with the bat in the recent Tests for India. He endured a rough ride in India’s domestic Test season as well as the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia.
Rohit Sharma will play under Ajinkya Rahane
Rohit Sharma will play under India and Mumbai cricket veteran Ajinkya Rahane. Along with him, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ajinkya Rahane, Shreyas Iyer, Shivam Dube and Shardul Thakur are some of the prominent players who will play for Mumbai, making them favorites to win.
Among these players, Yashasvi Jaiswal has proved to be a high-class performer for India since his debut. Jaiswal is likely to open the batting against Jammu & Kashmir but Rohit’s batting position is yet to be confirmed.
Mumbai are currently third in their group with 22 points. Baroda are currently leading Group A with 27 points, while Jammu & Kashmir are second with 23 points. Mumbai are also the defending champions who won the title last year under the leadership of Ajinkya Rahane.
Rohit Sharma Recent Exam Pattern
Rohit Sharma scored just 31 runs in three Tests in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. He averaged just 6.20 which summarizes his ordinary tour below. The 37-year-old even had to abandon the final Test in Sydney due to poor form. Jasprit Bumtah led India in Rohit’s absence.
In the five Tests leading up to the Test series in Australia, Rohit scored 133 runs against Bangladesh and New Zealand at home at an average of just 13.30 with a best of 52.
The BCCI recently made it clear that every player must commit to playing domestic cricket whenever he is available. Along with Rohit, Virat Kohli has also confirmed his availability for Delhi’s Ranji Trophy match against Railways starting on January 30.
