Everton sign exciting £14m star
Evertonis a striking victory over Tottenham Hotspur has restored the feel-good factor at Goodison Park. WITH David Moyes at the helm, there is already optimism about the club, dreams of a brighter future.
However, Everton remain embroiled in another relegation battle and simply need to use the ongoing winter transfer window to create some breathing room in the bottom half Premier League.
Fortunately, the new owners, The Friedkin Group, are determined to provide some funds so that Moyes can strengthen Everton’s first team.
The fans are probably most expecting an agreement for the new centre-forward. Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored a superb goal at the weekend, but previously endured a 16-game barren run and is also out of contract at the end of the campaign.
Moreover, Armando Broja injured his ankle and is expected to be sidelined for several months. They are very likely to send him back to Chelsea, freeing up space for Moyes to bring in a new face at the top.
On the other hand, one exciting name is currently being linked with a move to Merseyside. While the club believes that it is necessary to strengthen in several areas, specifically at number nine, the right side of the first line is one of the most urgent.
Everton field an exciting player
According to Italian publication Calcio MercatoJuventus is aware of the interest of several European clubs, among them Everton, in the dynamic wide player Timothy Weah with it, it was stated that the Toffees had ‘made a move’ for the striker.
The USMNT international has been in good contention under Thiago Motta this season and could bring the kind of concern Moyes’ side need to balance steely resistance with exciting flair.
Valued at £14m according to TransfermarktWeah could be the perfect and realistic mid-season option for the Toffees, but with Eintracht Frankfurt and RB Leipzig in Germany also listed as suitors, this will not be an easy one to jump over the line.
What Timothy Weah would bring to Everton
An immensely flexible player from a tactical standpoint, Weah followed in his famous father’s footsteps as a centre-forward but has transformed into more of an electric pace player in recent seasons.

Weah’s cutting edge has always felt lacking, however, Juventus have triumphed in boosting his potency and he has scored five goals and added one assist from just eight starts in Serie A this season, according to Sofascoreamazingly missing zero big opportunities.
The success of the 24-year-old continues reflected through its FBref metricranking in the top 1% of position players in Europe’s top five leagues in the past year for goals per shot, top 11% for assists and top 17% for 90 goals.
This perfectly illustrates his growth in front of the goal, but also his technical quality and persistence in defensive phases. In fact, FBref even notes that the versatile winger is similar to Everton superstar Iliman Ndiaye.
Ndiaye only arrived at Goodison Park last summer, comes from French club Marseille for £15 million but he has already established himself as a perennial fan favorite, and has been described as a “superstar”. Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragherwho also hailed Senegal’s “sparkling fingers”.
Everton beat Tottenham last time out and Ndiaye ran riot against a weak and beleaguered Spurs back line. Just imagine Weah deployed on the alternate flank, finely balancing the team with a lightning-fast new option to stretch the opposition even further.
It was Ndiaye’s sixth goal in all competitions for Everton since signing, he has played 24 times. The 24-year-old, who has mainly played on the left wing, may not boast the greatest goalscoring record, but he is missed only two big chances in the Premier League this term, converting their other four.
Ndiaye may not be the most prolific goalscorer, but he is definitely endowed with an athletic resemblance to Weah, ranking among the first 7% of peers in the position for pass completion, top 16% for tackles and top 12% for successful takedowns at 90.
A successful takeover is scored when a player beats his opponent by passing the ball directly past him, retaining possession.
One would think that Everton’s desire to sign a talent like Weah might be boosted by the fact that Jesper Lindstrom and Jack Harrison have not cut the mustard this season, and both players are only under contract until the end of the season given that they are both on loan.

This would be perfect. Ndiaye left, Weah right. They cause chaos while boasting composure through their passing game for effective counter-attacks and give Moyes’ side more possession-based football than was on offer under Sean Dyche for the lion’s share of the 2024/25 campaign.

If Everton fans aren’t convinced yet, the one and only Neymar Jr. even gave his blessing to the American maverick, once claiming that Weah “has what it takes to become one of the best attacking players in Europe.”
Moreover, the recently deceased Everton owner Farhad Moshiri oversaw previous interest in the player. appreciated French publication L’Equipe confirmed in January 2023 that the Merseysiders were interested in signing the then Lille forward.
Everton can only operate within their own parameters, but TFG will look to provide Moyes with some foundations to build something special.
It’s hard to imagine the Soctsman taking the job without some measure of security, and after beating Tottenham so convincingly, you’d think the new owners would give him what he needs.
