Spurs eye ‘sensational’ £65m PL star who could make Solanke even better
Tottenham Hotspur The campaign seems to be getting worse by the week.
Ange Postecoglou side fell to his 12th defeat of Premier League season yesterday afternoon, and if that wasn’t bad enough, Dominik Solanke he had to sit out after being the latest player to join the club’s ever-growing injury list.
The Englishman has been one of the few positive players for the Lilywhits this year, as while he hasn’t necessarily been prolific, he has been effective and undoubtedly £65m well spent.
However, he could reach another level, as recent reports have linked the North Londoners with a Premier League star who would be an ideal team-mate for the talented centre-forward.
Tottenham regularly target the Premier League
According to a a recent report from Caught OffsideTottenham have maintained a strong interest in the Manchester United star Alejandro Garnacho.

Mega money deals, controversial moves and big name failures. This is the home of transfer news and opinion across the Football FanCast.
The report revealed that if the Red Devils receive a good enough offer for the Argentine, who is valued at £65m, this month, they will let him leave and that the North Londoners consider him a ‘serious option.’
However, things aren’t necessarily that simple, with Serie A leaders Napoli also keen to land the dynamic winger, which could pose a problem for the Lilywhites.
All in all, it could be a complicated and expensive transfer to get over the line, but given Garnach’s ability and potential, he’s worth fighting for, especially as he could help Solanke get even better.
Why Garnacho would improve Solanke
So, to cut to the chase, there’s one overarching reason why Garnacho could help make Solanke a better striker for Spurs, and it’s simple: his output.
Yes, despite only being 20 years old, the Madrid-born winger has already proven that he can be an effective attacking valve in world football’s strongest league.
Let’s say, in 50 appearances last season, a “sensational” talent, as they call him journalist Michael Plantscored ten goals and five assistswhich is equal to an average share of goals every 3.33 games.
Even this year, while everything around him seems to be going badly, the eight-capped international has scored eight goals and five assists in 32 appearances, which means he scored an average of every 2.46 games.
Now it is true that Son Heung-min scored as many goals and gave two more he assisted in 27 games this seasonbut he has played more minutes, and crucially, the South Korean superstar is set to turn 33 this year, and as most fans will probably attest, he doesn’t have the same explosiveness and unpredictability in his game that made him so great in the past.

In contrast, the former Atlético Madrid youngster undoubtedly has it, and we can see it in his underlying numbers.
For example, according to FBrefwhich compares players in similar positions in the Premier League, is in the top 8% of attacking midfielders and wingers for progressive carries and carries in the final third, top 10% for touches in the opposition penalty area and top 12% for delivery into the penalty area, all 90 .
So not only does United’s gem rack up an impressive amount of goals for someone so young, but he also thrives up the pitch and into incredibly dangerous areas, which is exactly why Solanke would love to play him, as he could be in a position to take advantage of that.
Moreover, having a winger as dynamic and unpredictable as Garnacho on the left instead of an aging Son or an ineffective Tim Werner should naturally open up more space for the former Bournemouth striker, as defenders are forced to mark more than one striker.
Ultimately, it may not be a deal that wins fans over immediately, but Spurs need a new, exciting option on the left to help Solanke reach the next level, and it seems the United prospect could be the perfect option.
