Biden welcomes Trump to the White House with a two-word message: ‘Welcome home’
President Biden delivered a two-word message President-elect Trump at the White House on Monday.
“Welcome home,” Biden shouted to Trump as the soon-to-be 47th president arrived outside the White House with his wife, Melania Trump.
Trump climbed the stairs and greeted Biden and First Lady Jill Biden. The couples took photos, but did not answer questions from journalists. Biden and Trump turned and entered the White House together for tea.

After the private tea, Biden and Trump entered their motorcade and traveled together to the Capitol on inauguration ceremony. Trump will be sworn in as president around noon ET.
The two-word message reflected “welcome back” Biden told Trump as much when the two met in the Oval Office on November 13 following the Republican’s decisive victory over the Democratic presidential nominee, Vice President Kamala Harris.

The welcoming tone is a stark contrast to the combative nature of the debate between Biden and Trump in June, as the Democratic president’s difficult performance eventually led him to suspend his re-election campaign and Harris topped the list.
Just weeks later, Trump survived an assassination attempt on July 13 at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, which sent shockwaves through the 2024 election cycle.
