Douglas Luiz is among the names on the Manchester City midfielder’s target list.
City are exploring their options in the market for a new number 6 and former Aston Villa midfielder Luiz, who has played just 16 times for Juventus this season, is one of the figures they are looking for.
The Premier League champions’ interest could be boosted if Juventus, who only signed the 26-year-old in the summer, are prepared to agree to an outright six-month loan without a permanent transfer clause.
City are not certain to make an addition in this position this window, but it is a possibility if the deal suits them.
Sky Sports News has already reported that they will not be looking for Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi, who is closing in on a summer move to Arsenal, or Newcastle’s Bruno Guimaraes.
Luiz is expected to leave Juventus in some capacity this month, with the former Aston Villa star keen to return to the Premier League.
He only moved to Juve last summer in a £21million deal that saw winger Samuel Iling-Junior and midfielder Enzo Barrenechea switch sides, with both players since going out on loan. The Brazilian midfielder signed a five-year contract with Juventus.
Luiz scored nine goals in 35 Premier League games last season as Unai Emery’s side qualified for the Champions League in fourth place.
Any potential move to City would be a return to the Etihad Stadium for Luiz, who was at City between 2017 and 2019 without making a single appearance.
Marmoush is expected to fly to the UK this week to complete his move to City
Meanwhile, Omar Marmoush is expected to fly to the UK early this week to complete his move to Manchester City.
City reached a verbal agreement with Eintracht Frankfurt on Friday to sign striker Marmoush and he was left out of the Eintracht squad that beat Borussia Dortmund 2-0 in the Bundesliga on Friday night, with the German club confirming they are “in talks with another club regarding the transfer of Omar Marmoush”.
Marmoush, who can operate across a front three, has scored 15 goals in the Bundesliga this season, just one behind Bayern Munich forward Harry Kane which is at the top of the ranking with 16.
