Ravindra Jadeja will take on Rishabh Pant as the all-rounder’s participation in the Ranji Trophy has been confirmed


In the latest development, according to reports in Times of India, it is learned that Ravindra Jadeja will play for Saurashtra in the Ranji Trophy match against Delhi in Rajkot starting on Thursday (January 23, 2025).

Reports claimed that Ravindra Jadeja was part of Saurashtra for their training session in Rajkot on Sunday (January 19). His availability will be a big boost for the national team as he has been one of the best all-rounders in India’s longest format of the game.

Ravindra Jadeja will be up against Rishabh Pant, who has also confirmed his availability for the Delhi team for the Ranji Trophy. The goalkeeper-kicker will play under the guidance of Ayush Badoni. This in itself makes the second round of the Ranji Trophy enthralling as two of the best Indians will be pitted against each other.

The return of Indian national cricket team players to domestic cricket comes after BCCI issued strict guidelines. Every player has to play domestic matches, otherwise they will have to face consequences related to pay cut and sanction in IPL as well.

Ravindra Jadeja had a decent outing in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.

Jadeja will come into the game on the back of a decent performance in the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The all-rounder sat out the first few games of the series and then returned to the XI for the final three games at the Gabba, Melbourne and Sydney.

Jadeja has had a decent outing with bat and ball but has not remained consistent. His contribution was not enough as the Indian national cricket team lost the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy by a margin of 1-3 and also failed to reach the final of the ICC Test World Cup.

Jadeja played a brave innings at the Gabba and scored a brilliant half-century to help his team equalize. However, in the last two games, he could not set the stage on fire with his bat. The all-rounder also took 4 wickets in the series at an average of 54.

Ravindra Jadeja, along with some of the team’s senior players of late, has come under extensive scrutiny for his poor form. The all-rounder is no doubt a key member of the team and playing in the Ranji Trophy will surely help him gain confidence and get back into rhythm.

He has also been named in the Indian squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The tournament will be played from February 19 and the final set will be played on March 9. He would be a key member of the team and would want to help his team win.
