Chelsea’s £38.5m signing has been rejected by Juventus as Villarreal are linked
Chelsea defender Axel Disasi has not been considered by Serie A giants Juventus, it has been claimed, but is on Villarreal’s shopping list.
The 26-year-old joined Chelsea from Monaco in August 2023 for a reported fee of €45m (£38.5m), signing a six-year deal at Stamford Bridge.
Disasi played 44 times in all competitions under then-head coach Mauricio Pochettino last season, but saw his playing time marginalized under Enzo Maresca. The Frenchman has played just five games in the Premier League to date, instead of playing a more prominent role in the Conference League group stage matches.
French publication L’Equipe Disasi, who is a natural centre-back but can also play at right-back, is said to be expected to leave the Blues before the end of January transfer window, with an already agreed loan between the player and the club.
Juventus are said to be one of the clubs considering a move for the five-capped France international, but the Italian journalist Matteo Moretto has since reported that Disasi is not the profile of a player sought after by the multiple Scudetto winners.
Former Europa League winners Villarreal have been mentioned as a potential escape route for Disasi, while reigning Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen have been linked with a move French media towards the end of last year.
Aston Villa has also been touted as a potential destination for Disasi, and Unai Emery’s side are ready to facilitate the departure of Fenerbahce-linked Diego Carlos if they can bring in a suitable replacement.
Chelsea recently recalled Trevoh Chalobah on loan at Crystal Palace, potentially pushing Disasi further into a pecking order that also includes academy graduate Josh Acheampong, after learning Wesley Fofana could miss the rest of the season through injury.
Benoit Badiashile is also out of the machine, but Levi Colwill, ChelseaThe second main option at centre-back, he started every Premier League game under Maresco after a lengthy stint on the transfer shortlist Liverpool.
