5 players Liverpool should sign this month
No real splash in the summer transfer window – just welcoming Federico Chiesa on a bargain deal and one for the future in Giorgi Mamardashvili – Liverpool are at the top Premier League and Champions League tables.
Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes silenced the skeptics, and as such, it would be easy to suggest the same would happen again this month. However, cracks are beginning to appear.
Recent struggles have seen Arsenal close the gap to four points on Liverpool – who still have a game in hand – to suddenly turn a dominant title race into one that can still contain plenty of angst.
The January transfer window he could completely alleviate that anxiety, as we highlighted with the five players Liverpool are expected to sign this month.

1
Miloš Kerkez
Bournemouth
Andrew Robertson used to be the best left-back in the Premier League, maybe even in the world. But those days are behind him. The Scotland captain is suffering what every player must suffer at some stage at the top level.
Casemiro endured it last season – dare we even mention Rio Ferdinand’s Queens Park Rangers spell? Now, Robertson has become the latest to suffer a significant slump from his best, and Liverpool must act.
Rather than watch their left-back struggle for the rest of the campaign, the Reds must sign Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez, who is everything Robertson once was.
An athletic, attacking threat who has few problems in the opposite direction as well, Kerkez is the answer to Sloto’s biggest problem, and those at Anfield should meet his he announced a price of 50 million pounds this month.

Jonathan Tah
Bayer Leverkusen
Another problem is starting to creep in Arne Slottthe team comes in central defense. Perhaps the biggest way to highlight that problem is by looking back at Liverpool’s first defeat in the Carabao Cup semi-final against Tottenham Hotspur when Wataru Endo was forced to replace the injured Jarrell Quansah.
A midfielder by nature, the Japan international has done an admirable job but revealed why Edwards and Hughes must be looking for reinforcements this month.
With Joe Gomez’s injury history catching up with him once again and Ibrahim Konata yet to return to 100% following his own injury, Liverpool should make an early start with Bayer Leverkusen’s Jonathan Tah.
Part of Leverkusen’s historically unbeaten Bundesliga side last season, Tah has once again played his part in Xabi Alonso’s side, who are pushing Bayern Munich all the way to retain their title.
Yet even with the chance to win another Bundesliga crown, the German could be available this month given it is Leverkusen’s last chance to cash in before potentially losing their defender for free in the summer.
An experienced leader, Tah could even replace Virgil van Dijk if the Dutchman himself fails to sign a new contract before the summer.

Arda Guler
Real Madrid
Speaking of contracts coming to an end, Liverpool must also start thinking about players to replace Mohamed Salah, with the Egyptian also yet to secure his future at Anfield – and that’s where the likes of Arda Guler could come in.
He is mentioned along with a number of other Premier League clubs in reports surrounding Guler’s next destination in recent monthsThe Reds should make their move as soon as possible.
With Kylian Mbappe, Rodrygo and Vinicius Jr. who will fill the attacking roles at Real Madrid in the coming years, Guler would be wise to seek his rise to stardom away from Spain just as the striker spot becomes available at Anfield.
While he is a different kind of talent than Salah, the 19-year-old certainly has the star power to replace the Egyptian in what will be an almost impossible job for whoever is handed the responsibility.
The best is yet to come for Guler, who is set to swap the Real bench for a place in the limelight on Merseyside.

Carlos Baleba
Brighton & Hove Albion
While Ryan Gravenberch may seem to have solved all of Liverpool’s midfield woes, they may still need another player capable of thriving in that No.6 role if they are to make an undisputed push towards the Premier League title.
Simply throwing Gravenberch into the ground will eventually have consequences for Sloto, just as Jurgen Klopp discovered with Fabinho a few years ago – and Liverpool must avoid a repeat.
As is often the place full of answers for the Premier League’s top teams, Liverpool could turn to Brighton & Hove Albion for a solution. Alexis Mac Allister is already a fan favorite in his second season at Anfield and the Reds would be wise to swoop in and welcome another Seagull to join the Argentinian.
Having missed out on Moises Caicedo last season, it would have been almost fitting if they had taken Carlos Baleba this time around.

An impressive midfielder who is still only 21, a January signing for Baleba could complete Sloto’s midfield once and for all alongside the equally impressive Gravenberch and help the Reds dominate the title.

João Pedro
Brighton & Hove Albion
While Liverpool’s left-back problem remains the biggest threat to their title ambitions, their striker problem continues to frustrate them the most.
In his third season at the club, it is clearer than ever that Darwin Nunez is not the answer to Liverpool’s problems and at this stage, he is destined to become one of the few big-money flops during a period of otherwise excellent passing during Klopp’s reign.
Recent reports suggest that it is The Reds rejected a £70m bid from Saudi Arabia to cut ties with their attacker, but it’s an offer they’d be wise to accept if given a second chance – especially if they want to sell before they can buy.
Suddenly, that £70m would leave those at Anfield perfectly placed to sign the ideal replacement in Joao Pedro. Showing shades of Roberto Firmino at Brighton, Pedro looks like a player destined for the top.
Moreover, the fact that Slott has used Luis Diaz as a false nine in recent weeks suggests that Pedro is the type of player he is looking for to complete his Liverpool front line.
