Attackers disguised as Amazon workers beat man with guns: report
Two men disguised as Amazon delivery workers allegedly beat a 66-year-old man Savannah, Georgia, Pub Owner nearly to death with a weapon such as a sledgehammer on the morning of January 11, according to police and local reports.
Two suspects, wearing the company’s distinctive blue Amazon logo jackets and carrying a cardboard box, knocked on the man’s front door around 8 a.m.
They allegedly attacked him with weapons for almost eight minutes, as WTOC first reported.
In security camera footage shared by Savannah police on their website, the two offenders can be seen slowly approaching a man’s door in the 500 block of Price Street, wearing ski masks covering their faces. The victim can then be heard crying for help.
His neighbors soon arrived and found the 66-year-old man with multiple wounds on his head. The victim received 14 stitches and continues to recover from the sudden attack, according to WTOC.
The perpetrators fled the scene after the attack with $80 stolen from the victim, the newspaper reported.
An Amazon spokesperson told Fox News Digital that based on the company’s internal investigation, it can confirm that the individuals seen in the video were not making scheduled deliveries for Amazon.
The spokesperson added that Amazon regularly monitors the Internet for unauthorized Amazon clothing and requests that these items be removed when and where possible. People who deliver on behalf of Amazon do not routinely knock on doors or ask customers to sign for packages unless this has already been arranged, the spokesman noted.
