Hopes are growing that a cease-fire agreement between Israel and Hamas in Gaza could finally be reached.

Negotiators in Doha, Qatar, appear to be on the verge of breaking off talks on a ceasefire to end 15 months of Israeli the war in Gaza.

In his latest foreign policy speech, outgoing US President Joe Biden hinted that a deal was inevitable.

Israeli media leaked details of the proposed deal.

It’s what Biden previously called a “road map to a permanent ceasefire” in three phases.

So is the growing sense of optimism justified this time around?
