Pedophiles could see death penalty under new GOP bill: ‘Permanently removed from the streets’
Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, R-Fla., is unveiling a new set of laws that could face child sexual predators capital punishment.
“If you rape someone, if you abuse someone, you’re essentially killing their soul. These people never really fully recover. I actually sat on a committee with a very prominent [female House Democrat] who actually talked about being abused as a child. And so you can see that it’s affecting people and it’s really hurting them,” Luna said.
Two of her three bills, all of which will be introduced in the 119th Congress on Tuesday, would require the death penalty or at least life in prison for those accused of a wide range of crimes involving children.

A third bill would require rape and adult sexual assault convictions to carry a mandatory minimum sentence of 30 years to life in prison.
Luna told Fox News Digital that she had discussed the topic with the president-elect Donald Trump over the weekend, who she said was enthusiastic about the idea.
– I got the impression that he absolutely supports everyone in this sector – said Luna.
The Florida congresswoman was among the members of the Freedom Caucus who met with Trump over the weekend in Mar-a-Lago.

She said they also discussed Trump potentially signing an executive order to introduce the death penalty for crimes related to pedophilia, but that it would likely be impossible to achieve that way.
“I would be ready to sign [executive order]. But the fact is that it has to go through Congress first. That’s how it would have to come to his desk,” she said.
Moon first introduced accounts in the last Congress when Democrats controlled half of Congress as well as the White House. However, they failed to gain much support and in the end never saw a vote in the House of Representatives.

She suggested that the death penalty aspect may have turned some people away from an issue that might otherwise have broad bipartisan support, but argued that child predators “cannot be rehabilitated.”
“If you intend to continue pushing forward in a moral society, [then] you have to make sure that people like this, who are predators, are permanently removed from the streets,” Luna said.
