Aaron Hardie takes a hilarious tumble over the fence trying to stop a boundary in the BBL
Perth Scorchers all-rounder Aaron Hardie was at the receiving end of a funny incident during the ongoing Big Bash League (BBL) 2024-25 match against Sydney Thunder. The 33rd match of the tournament between the teams is played at the Sydney Showdown Stadium in Sydney on Monday (January 13).
Aaron Hardie, in an attempt to save the boundary, fell over the fence. It happened during the last ball of the 15th over when Sydney Thunder opener Sam Konstas was bowled by Cooper Connolly, who kept his team in the hunt.
Copper Connolly bowled a delivery that Sam Konstas opted to reverse. He had a decent connection to switch over the right players in the backfield. Aaron Hardie, who was at short third, gave chase, but the ball had enough leg to beat him to the fence.
Aaron Hardie ran after the ball and could not be stopped. As a result, he fell over the fence and appeared to injure himself as he hung on the fence for several seconds before returning to the field. He then returned to his position in the field while giving his teammate the green signal for his pain.

Sydney Thunder scored a total of 158 runs, Sam Konstas and Tom Andrews shining with the bat
Coming into the game, Sydney Thunder did not have a great outing with the bat. Opening batsman Sam Konstas kept his team in the game as he celebrated a magnificent half-century and continued to score for the team even as the wickets fell at the other end. The Perth Scorchers bowlers continued to pick wickets at regular intervals and left the opposition at 75/5.
Sam Konstas scored his second Big Bash League half-century and finished with an innings of 53 runs off 42 balls. He batted at a strike rate of around 127 and also hit 5 fours and 2 sixes in his innings. But once he got out, it looked like Sydney Thunder would be out early.
However, Tom Andrews ended up making a brutal effort with the bat. He played in an unbeaten streak of 37 runs off 13 balls with the help of three boundaries and three sixes. He hit at a strike rate of around 285 and put opposing pitchers under a lot of pressure.

He received valiant support from Chris Green (20*) in the over as Sydney Thunder finished with a total of 158 runs. For the Perth Scorchers, Lance Morris picked three wickets while other bowlers also contributed.
In the chase, Perth Scorchers lost early wickets and were left at 10/2 with both openers, Sam Fanning and Finn Allen back in the hut. Aaron Hardie looked in solid touch with the bat but could not continue what he had started as he returned to the hut on 22 runs from 17 balls as the team lost their third wicket by 40 runs.
